Day 331 Quiet Saturday.... fun site of the day -- Fark.com

Another fun link -- From Bricks to Bothans -- a Star Wars (tm) Lego (tm) site. Love that stuff. Especially the visualization to take a Star Wars image and being able to reduce it to common Lego bricks and creating new specialized bricks... Found that site via Slashdot who mentioned The Star Wars Alphabet Project.

Woot! the 2003 Bulwer Lytton awards have been announced!

Day 330 Bad Boys II -- yoiks, symptomatic of this summer's sequelitus... Imagine if you have a movie graphed. You find people enjoy most of it, but some things click and there are spikes of enjoyment. Now, imagine if you turn down the base enjoyment level and amplify the spikes..... almost like turning a colour picture into black and white. The giants spikes stand out and nothing connects them...

To use a wrestling analogy - originally matches had a storyline or a pyschology where the back and forth built through the match, puncuated by better and better "highspots" (i.e. impressive moves). But in today's 15 minute World, wrestling matches are now just "spotfests" that is, a string of highspots with no story behind them...

And there you have Bad Boys II - all of the high spots of BB1 are turned up to 11 (to the point of being offensive) - and there is nothing underneath. Smith and Lawrence basically dial-in their performances (especially Smith). The car chase in T3 was more compelling. This one is just flying cars, Martin yelling "Oh sh*t" and Will saying "No worries, Im driving." Anyhoo, see Pirates twice...

It is an UPSET -- Last night on Last Comic Standing, as expected, Dat Phan got challenged by everyone. In return, he challenges Dave Mordal and wins! Go Dat.... but the monkey wrench, another elimination next week. Yoiks

Day 329 Busily making my online resumes more "buzzworthy" with some additional telecom buzzwords of various natures. Conventional wisdom has that you need to bump your resume up the electronic pile (an online version of King of the Hill eh?) as frequently as once a week!

One of the blessings (?!) of being home is that I am able to watch the Tour De France live.... interesting stuff

Otherwise the networking continues....

day 327 and 328 Just a weeee bit busy yesterday - researching AutoCAD courses, errands, calls and the like. Topped off with the girls at Softball (all games in the 8 and under league end in ties).

Day 326 Avast ye mateys! Pirates of the Caribbean be a darn good show for crew of all ages...

Otherwise, PSG Neptune meeting this morning. The usual crowd of job seeking suspects with some new folk here and there. No earth shattering revelations.

First day for the girls at Girl Scout Camp at Amity Acres. Ah.... quiet around the house. :)

Days 324 and 325 Fairly busy weekend hence little blogging. The usual food shopping on Saturday (and church for the girls and Heleen). Sunday featured the girls' Softball game (Tuesday we bring the digital camera and get some pix online), and our day off our diets (Weight Watchers) with lunch at Charlie Brown's (with Heleen's brother and dad).

Since AO didn't load right, we thought we would give the free trial of Magic:The Gathering online a try. I wonder, if I had put $5k into Garfield Games waaaay back when, how much would I have now?....
